Gender Inequality in Developing Countries: A Case Study of Pakistan

The purpose of this paper is to quantity the extent of gender inequality in access to social and economic opportunity in Pakistan and to analyse its determinants. Analysis shows a high degree of gender inequality in Pakistan. This is largely a consequence of inequality in labour force participation rate followed by literacy rate and school participation rate. On the whole gender inequality has decreased in the 70’s, increase in the first half of 80’s and is on the decline in the 90s.
